About the role
Reporting directly to the Dental Manager, the Dental Hygienist plays a vital role in supporting our dentists and providing high‑quality preventative dental care. This role centres on patient education, early intervention, and delivering consistently excellent oral health outcomes.
You’ll enjoy autonomy in your day‑to‑day clinical work while contributing to a positive, efficient, and patient‑focused surgery environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide routine preventative dental treatments including cleans, hand scaling, and fluoride applications
- Deliver personalised oral health education focused on hygiene, plaque control, nutrition, and home‑care regimes
- Identify and refer complex dental issues to dentists or specialists
- Assist in preventing and managing decay and periodontal disease
- Polish tooth restorations and apply appropriate corrective treatments
- Manage surgery workflow to maintain smooth, high‑quality and timely patient care
- Supervise Dental Assistants assigned to your surgery
- Maintain instruments, equipment, and materials effectively
- Contribute to a safe, compliant environment through strong infection control and radiation safety practices
What we’re looking for You’re a compassionate, skilled dental professional who takes pride in delivering patient‑centred care. You communicate with warmth and clarity, work effectively both independently and within a team, and stay up‑to‑date with best clinical practice.
Essential Requirements
- Current registration as a Dental Auxiliary with AHPRA
- Current Queensland Radiation Licence (intra‑oral and/or extra‑oral radiography)
- Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Hepatitis B immunisation with current serology
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Dental Hygienist
Capabilities and skills
- Broad experience across preventative and corrective dental hygiene services
- Strong knowledge of dental hygiene principles, techniques, and disease prevention
- Excellent communication, education, and patient‑engagement skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously
- High level of oral health knowledge across all age groups
- Solid understanding of infection control, workplace health and safety, and radiation safety standards
- Ability to learn and use electronic patient systems
