About the role
The Senior GIS Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the council's geospatial capabilities to support informed decision-making, enhance service delivery, and improve operational efficiencies. This position ensures that accurate and accessible spatial data is available for internal and external stakeholders while driving innovation and best practices in GIS technology. The role also focuses on integrating GIS solutions with other council systems to improve service delivery and facilitate data-driven strategic planning. By leading a dedicated GIS team, the Senior GIS Analyst will champion the use of spatial technology to enhance urban planning, asset management, and community engagement across the council’s operations

Remuneration
$109,977.92 - $123,173.96 + 12% Superannuation
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science, Geography, IT, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in GIS management, including system administration, spatial analysis, and data management.
- Proven leadership experience in a GIS-related role, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Strong technical expertise in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS,) and spatial databases.
- Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian legislation, data standards, and GIS governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Land Titles System and knowledge of the Local Environmental Plan (LEP).
- Understanding of Council’s requirements for Zoning, Planning and Regulatory Mapping and digital cadastral database maintenance
- Experience managing projects and work packages
- Knowledge of spatial analysis tools and understanding of statistics/data science
- Knowledge of reporting and business intelligence solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive innovation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skill
