How you’ll make an impact
As Finance Manager (Contract),you will lead
Council’s core financial functions, ensuring sound financial management, strong
governance and compliance with legislative and accounting requirements. This
position is offered on a 12-month term contract.
This is a senior professional role for an experienced
finance leader who can manage complex financial operations while also
contributing to longer‑term financial planning and organisational
sustainability. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting and audit
processes, manage Council’s investments, loans, rates and revenue functions,
and ensure compliance with GST, FBT and statutory reporting obligations.
Working closely with the Director Corporate Performance
& CFO and leaders across the organisation, you will provide high‑quality
financial advice, maintain robust financial systems and controls, and drive
continuous improvement to support informed decision‑making and effective
service delivery.
This position offers an attractive salary ranging from $118,570
to $151,777 gross per annum, plus superannuation (12 per cent), with
commencing salary dependant on qualifications, skills, qualifications and
experience. This role also has access to Council’s Vehicle Leaseback Program.
An enhanced remuneration package may be offered to an exceptional
candidate who brings strong, relevant experience in a similar role within the
local government sector.
What you’ll bring to our team
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- University qualification/s in Accounting, Commerce,
Finance or related discipline, complemented by current Certified Practising
Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a
high-performing team to deliver corporate objectives and innovative service and
business improvements.
- Demonstrated advanced communication and
interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain professional
relationships, articulate expectations, negotiate outcomes, resolve disputes,
and provide clear advice, direction and support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation,
codes of practice and Australian Standards applicable to finance and
accounting.
- Demonstrated budget preparation and financial
management skills.
- Effective time management and prioritisation
skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within
deadlines and budget.
