About the role
The Bayside Garden Centre is a well-established retail and wholesale nursery with a strong community focus.
It operates as a joint venture with Bayside Council and the Intellectual Disability Foundation of St George, combining commercial success with meaningful supported employment opportunities.
We are looking for someone with Horticulture qualifications (preferably) who can run the day-to-day operations as well as elevate the Garden Centre into a leading retail and wholesale nursery in the region with their business acumen.

Key Responsibilities & Challenges
- Provide horticultural, strategic, commercial and operational leadership to transform the Garden Centre into a high-performing, growth-oriented Social Enterprise
- Drive revenue growth and market expansion across retail and wholesale channels in a competitive environment
- Balance financial performance with meaningful social and community outcomes
- Build and lead a high-performing, customer-focused team, fostering accountability and engagement
- Optimise merchandising, stock management and plant quality to enhance customer experience and profitability
- Strengthen customer, supplier and community partnerships to broaden reach and impact
- Manage financial performance, including budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Champion innovation, continuous improvement and service excellence within a public sector framework
About you
- Relevant horticulture qualifications (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in business development and growth strategy execution
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and performance analysis
- Proven ability to develop and implement marketing strategies to expand market presence
- Experience building and managing strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships
- Effective, communicative and transparent leader with experience managing diverse teams
- Excellent communication, influencing and decision-making skills
- Class C Driver’s Licence
