Are you an organised, customer-focused HR or recruitment professional who enjoys supporting people through a positive recruitment and onboarding experience? We are seeking a Talent and Onboarding Officer to join our People, Learning & Culture team and help deliver efficient, accurate and responsive talent services across Council.
In this role, you will coordinate key stages of the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, from advertising, candidate management and interview coordination through to pre-employment checks, offer documentation, onboarding and workforce movements. You will work closely with hiring leaders, candidates, employees and internal stakeholders to maintain momentum, provide clear communication and support a consistent, high-quality service experience.
About the role
The Talent and Onboarding Officer plays an important enabling role within the Talent function, supporting recruitment administration, workforce transactions, accurate record keeping and continuous improvement. You will help maintain reliable workforce information across systems, including Authority and The Burrow, while contributing to a streamlined and customer-focused employee and leader experience.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment, selection, onboarding and internal movement activities.
- Prepare and issue accurate recruitment, onboarding and employee movement documentation.
- Liaise with hiring leaders, candidates, employees and internal stakeholders to provide responsive support and clear advice.
- Maintain accurate workforce records and data across corporate systems, local databases and employee files.
- Support reporting, research and process improvement activities within the Talent function.
- Deliver accurate, timely and courteous customer service while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with Council requirements.
Essential requirements
- Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in human resources, recruitment, onboarding, administration or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, customer-focused environment.
- Well-developed administrative skills, including the ability to prepare accurate documentation, manage records and maintain data integrity across multiple systems.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using HRIS, recruitment, payroll or other specialised business systems.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, provide clear advice and respond professionally to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, using initiative and sound judgement to resolve issues and support service delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service, confidentiality, continuous improvement and compliance with organisational policies, procedures and service standards.
- C Class Drivers License
