About the Role
As a gardener, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the esthetic and functional quality of Council's parks, cemeteries, public spaces and reserves across the Shire. This position requires a proactive individual who can work both independetly and as part of a team, performing essential horticultural and landscaping duties while ensuring the safety and of our community.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Maintain garden beds, sports fields, and open spaces by mowing, slashing, trimming, tree pruning, and weed spraying.
- Care for lawns/turf and operate irrigation systems to keep our public spaces lush and green.
- Identify and control plant diseases, pests, and other threats to ensure healthy landscapes.
- Participate in landscape design and construction activities to create vibrant outdoor public spaces.
- Ensure all equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehicles, are operated and maintained correctly.
