CASUAL TRAINEE POOL ATTENDANTS

Mid-Western Regional Council is looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to join our Recreation Services team as Casual Trainee Pool Attendants for the 2026/27 Pool Season.
The 2026/27 Pool Season commences September 2026 and runs through to late April 2027. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience while working as part of a team providing a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for our community.
Successful applicants will be rostered throughout the season across Council’s aquatic facilities, assisting with pool supervision, customer service and the day-to-day operation of our facilities.
* Note - you need to be a minimum of 16 years old to work in these roles.
What you’ll be doing
As a Casual Trainee Pool Attendant, you will work as part of Council’s Recreation Services team across our 3 pools in Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos. You will:
- Work across a 7-day roster throughout the pool season, with availability through to the end of the season in late April 2027.
- Assist with lifeguard duties and the supervision of pool facilities to help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service to pool patrons.
- Assist with the daily cleaning and maintenance of pool facilities, grounds, plant and equipment.
- Assist with water testing and sampling to ensure water quality meets required standards.
- Process admissions and other payments accurately.
- Assist with completing incident and injury reports in accordance with Council procedures.
- Work safely and contribute positively to Council’s workplace values and team environment.

- An hourly rate of $20.5855 - $32.4211 per hour for Junior/Trainee employees, dependent on age, skills, qualifications and experience.
- Weekend penalty rates plus superannuation in accordance with applicable conditions.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Licence or willingness to obtain
- Basic computer skills
- Experience in delivering excellent customer service
- Experience in receipting and cash handling
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant WHS training
- Able to attend a Compulsory Information Meeting (of approximately one hour duration) which will take place after the closing date of this campaign.
Suitable candidates will be required to complete a Working with Children Check (if 18 years or older) and pre-employment tests prior to commencement.
