About Us

Royal Rehab Group’s story began in 1899 with our founder, Susan Schardt — a remarkable and determined woman who was born sight impaired but saw possibility where others saw limits.

At just 27, Susan changed the life of a man living with disability and experiencing homelessness by finding him care and a place to belong. That single act of compassion sparked a legacy of excellence and commitment that continues to guide us today.

More than 125 years later, Royal Rehab Group has grown into a leading provider of rehabilitation, wellbeing, and disability services. We remain true to Susan’s vision, delivering client-centred care and empowering people to live their best lives.

Our organisation and our people are energised by a common purpose – to empower people to reach their potential – as we strive to realise our vision – for a world without limits for people with disability, injury and illness.

Working together to explore what is possible, we value each person’s individual goals and aspirations, respecting that every individual’s circumstances are unique, and that independence can take many different forms.
