About the Role:
As our Defence Training & Capability Manager you will lead the strategic development and coordinated delivery of training capability across five major Defence contracts managed by Ventia.
This role is a newly created position and will ensure all training initiatives align with Ventia's contractual obligations, Defence standards, operational readiness requirements and corporate training governance.
Critical to the success of this role is creating efficiency across contracts in how training is delivered, managed and reported.
Our role offers hybrid working with the option to be based from our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement unified training strategy across all Defence contracts.
- Lead a team of training managers, instructional designers and subject matter experts.
- Ensure alignment with Defence capability frameworks and future force requirements.
- Leverage and collaborate with Ventia training resources and support SMEs to drive efficient training outcomes across contracts.
- Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of training programs, including technical, operational, and leadership development.
- Monitor training effectiveness and compliance to regulatory standards including auditing processes.
- Manage training budgets, resources and performance metrics.
- Stakeholder liaison with Defence clients, contract managers internal and external stakeholders including training providers, Defence schools, and industry partners.
- Identify current and future capability gaps, drive innovation with digital learning and technologies.
- Ensure overall governance and compliance.
Key Knowledge and Experience:
- Formal education or demonstrated experience in adult education training and development, human resources or a related field.
- Exposure to National VET sector standards and systems.
- Experience in training and development preferably within a Defence Industry or similar complex environment.
- Able to manage large-scale programs with a strong understanding of contractual frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, change management, leadership capability and process optimisation experience.
- Well developed knowledge of (LMS) Learning Management Systems and training accreditation processes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Australian Citizen with the ability to undergo Defence Security Clearnce (Baseline or higher).
