Why this role matters
The Salvation Army’s Additional Referral Pathway (ARP) is a national program dedicated to supporting victim-survivors of modern slavery through a trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally appropriate response. This program connects individuals with critical support services while addressing their immediate safety and welfare needs.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Project Officer (Lived Experience) to join our Social Mission team in supporting the Additional Referral Pathway (ARP), a national program aimed at broadening access to support for victim survivors of modern slavery. This role plays a crucial part in improving service delivery, expanding community engagement, and increasing program awareness by incorporating lived experience insights into all aspects of project development and implementation.
Reporting to the Program Manager this is a Casual role, located in THQ Redfern, NSW.
You will successfully
- Collaborate with the ARP Program Manager and National Family Violence & Modern Slavery Specialist to inform and co-design projects, including training, resources, and frameworks that incorporate lived experience perspectives.
- Build partnerships with external organisations and networks to promote ARP and enhance its accessibility for victim-survivors of modern slavery.
- Actively participate in ARP team meetings, Communities of Practice, and interagency groups to support best practice and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate opportunities for people with lived experience to engage in meaningful consultation, co-design, and feedback on ARP programs and initiatives.
- Identify service gaps and provide recommendations to enhance service delivery, aligning with the Family Violence Stream Model of Care.
You will have
- Lived experience of modern slavery and a commitment to using that experience to influence positive change in service systems.
- A Diploma or degree in social work, welfare, community development, or a related field OR significant relevant experience demonstrating deep sector knowledge and practice.
- Demonstrated experience working with lived experience participation or consumer engagement frameworks.
- Understanding of modern slavery, its dynamics, relevant legislation, and trauma-informed, person-centred practices.
- A current national police record check.
- A valid Working with Children Check relevant to your state of employment.
