The Salvation Army Aged Care supports over 2,000 residents across 19 residential aged care homes and a range of community care programs. We are currently transforming how we support people with responsive behaviours and are looking for a passionate leader to guide this change.
We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the Aged Care leadership team as the Behaviour Support and Resident Engagement Operations Manager. This new and impactful national role is focused on driving person-centred behaviour support strategies and enhancing resident engagement to improve wellbeing and quality of life across our residential aged care services.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to a very experienced General Manager Residential Services, this role provides expert guidance to site teams on contemporary responses to challenging behaviours, promotes non-pharmacological approaches, and embeds inclusive, person-centred practices aligned with aged care standards and human rights.
In this role you will:
- Lead the implementation of consistent, non-pharmacological approaches to responsive behaviours
- Provide coaching and expert guidance to site leaders and frontline teams
- Support the development of site-based Behaviour Support Practitioners
- Facilitate communities of reflective practice and uplift capability across the network
- Drive improvement in resident engagement and lifestyle activities
You will partner closely with operations, clinical, lifestyle, and quality teams to foster a culture of inclusion and person-centred support.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a compassionate, strategic thinker with deep expertise in behaviour support and a passion for enhancing quality of life for older people. You bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy or related field
- Strong experience supporting people with complex behaviours, preferably in aged care
- A solid understanding of behaviour support, dementia care, and human rights-based approaches
- Experience leading practice improvement and mentoring across multiple sites
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills to influence and engage diverse stakeholders
- Holding a valid driving license
Postgraduate qualifications in gerontology, behaviour support or mental health will be highly regarded.
