Ventia is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our Transport Infrastructure team in Wellington, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of capital works on the Transmission Gully motorway—a 24/7 operational environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Construction Manager, you’ll oversee the planning, pricing, and delivery of capital works on the Transmission Gully motorway.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Project Delivery: Scope, plan, and execute capital works projects, manage variations, and ensure all works are delivered safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with NZTA and subcontractors, maintaining strong communication and ensuring customer needs are central to all activities.
- Leadership & Compliance: Lead staff and subcontractor inductions, ensure system compliance (VenSafe, VisRes, LMS), and support team engagement and performance.
- Safety & Risk Management: Promote a strong safety culture, manage worksite risks, and comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvements and contribute to operational excellence through innovation and feedback.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a results-driven project leader with a passion for delivering high-impact infrastructure. With a strong foundation in engineering and a sharp eye for quality and safety, you’re ready to take charge in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
You thrive in a role that combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, and you’re known for building strong relationships with clients and contractors alike.
You will have extensive experience successfully delivering capital works programmes, ideally in transport infrastructure.
You’re clear and confident manner in communicating and your ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels are also key to the success of this role.
Other skills, experience and qualification
- A solid understanding of industry codes of practice and maintenance/construction equipment
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (BE or NZCE)
- STMS inspector (or working towards)
- Class 1 NZ Driver’s licence
- Strong computer literacy, including MS office suite and SharePoint
