About the role
You will lead organisational change management (OCM) for business change initiatives, partnering with sponsors, people leaders and delivery teams to plan and deliver change activities that are proportionate to impact and support sustainable adoption. You’ll apply Sydney Water’s change framework, coach leaders and teams, and provide practical tools and insights to help people transition successfully. Depending on priorities, you may be assigned to up to two projects concurrently, balancing timelines, stakeholder needs and organisational readiness. This role is 12 months fixed term opportunity with a view of extension.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver change management strategies and integrated change plans (e.g., stakeholder and impact assessments, communications and engagement, readiness and adoption, training approach, resistance management).
- Coach and support sponsors, people leaders and change champions to lead their teams through change.
- Partner closely with Project/Program Managers, Communications and People & Culture practitioners to align change, delivery and business outcomes.
- Apply and continuously improve Sydney Water’s change framework, tools and templates, tailor the approach to the context and level of change.
- Provide change insights and reporting (e.g., change health checks, risk and readiness, adoption measures) to support effective decision-making.
- Manage competing priorities across up to two concurrent projects, ensuring clear governance, escalation and fit-for-purpose delivery.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Change Management or a business-related discipline.
- Prosci and/or Change Management Institute Practitioner accreditation (or equivalent).
- Significant senior change management experience (typically 7+ years), including delivering change for complex programs and/or multiple initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with experience influencing and presenting to senior leaders and executives.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose change impacts, assess readiness and adoption, and translate insights into practical, targeted interventions.
- Highly developed facilitation, coaching and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Confidence managing ambiguity, escalating risks early, and balancing priorities across concurrent work.
- Extremely well organised and confident in managing multiple projects.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data to inform change decisions and measure outcomes.
