About the Role:
As a Facilities Officer, you’ll be responsible for coordinating a range of reactive and preventative maintenance across the City of Canning’s buildings, infrastructure and community facilities. From overseeing routine repairs and inspections to liaising with contractors and ensuring compliance with safety standards, no two days will be the same!

What you’ll be doing in the role:
- Overseeing routine reactive and preventative maintenance across a diverse portfolio of community buildings, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure
- Coordinating contractors, trades and external service providers for maintenance and improvement projects (and ensuring their performance with safety and regulatory standards)
- Conducting inspections and reporting of properties and facilities for asset condition, maintenance needs and compliance purposes
- Ensuring council facilities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as all personnel and contractors under supervision
- Responding promptly to all maintenance requests and ensuring cost-effectiveness of assigned and approved maintenance and works
- Preparing and maintaining plant and equipment registers
Who we’re looking for:
- You’re experienced in facilities maintenance, building management, operations and/or technical support
- You have the ability to coordinate and manage contractors, trades and service personnel (and ensure their performance)
- You’re proactive, highly organised and able to coordinate multiple projects and priorities
- You’re customer-focused and have a service orientated mindset. You’re also available to be “on-call” for 1 week every 4 weeks (allowance provided)
- You have a practical understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc) and knowledge of building construction methods, building codes, compliance and standards
- You have a practical safety-first approach and understanding of work health and safety
- You have a keen eye for detail, particularly in identifying faults and required repairs
- You’re confident with computers, software and tablets/devices
- You have a ‘C’ class driver’s license and able to provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old)
