About the role
We have a permanent full-time position for a Coordinator Construction Engineering to play a vital role in coordinating the safe and effective delivery of our road reserve construction and maintenance projects and to continuously seek ways to improve the methods of delivery to be at the leading edge of industry practices.

A snapshot of your new role:
- Enhance the overall performance of the construction team through strong leadership and building team capabilities
- Project planning, prepare cost estimations, provide technical advice and input into designs, co-ordinate resources and execute delivery of the annual construction program for roads, path, and drainage works
- Delivery of works in accordance with the City’s Project Management Framework and Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) including developing Project Plans, project delivery models and associated project construction documentation, procedures, plans and subcontracts
- Demonstrate strong leadership in and commitment to health, safety and wellbeing of all City staff through preparation of safety management plans, risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and continuous site monitoring & auditing through MyOSH
- Manage procurement of all key construction tenders, ensuring procurement activities are planned and delivered including developing contract agreements, request for quotations, receiving, assessing, and recommending sub-contractors and suppliers and managing external contract resources, agreements, and purchase orders
- Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, developing and maintaining a high standard of services to both internal and external customers
Who we’re looking for
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent or substantive progress towards diploma and considerable (5 – 10 years) relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in people leadership skills; able to support staff to ensure achievement of business unit objectives, either in a project or staff management capacity
- High levels of competency in using computer applications, including project scheduling, estimation and costing
- Valid “C” Class driver’s licence
- Construction safety card (White Card) with advanced understanding of safety practices and procedures, including experience and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Experience in project coordination of road construction projects
- Experience in quality management relating to civil construction works
- Experience in liaising with Main roads Western Australia, Water Corporation, Atco Gas, telecommunication providers and other departments towards works approvals
- Experience in traffic management requirements
- High levels of technical experience, specification, design drawing interpretation and survey set out
- Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance (within 6 months validity)
