Hornsby Shire Council's Waste Branch is currently recruiting a Waste Hotline Customer Service Officer to join the fast paced, demanding, front line customer services team that supports waste management and cleansing service delivery to the Hornsby community.
Salary
$66,299 to $74,273 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation and a 9 day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience

About the role
The Customer Services Officer is a front-line service orientated position and requires a person with the ability to resolve high-load and high-pressure customer service requests, complaints and enquires, while maintaining a courteous and professional manner at all times. The incumbent will have sound customer service skills, the ability to efficiently utilise a range of corporate based business systems and an ability to rapidly acquire and effectively utilise specialised waste management and cleansing services knowledge.
The position holder will also possess contemporary general administrative support skills and capabilities.
Position requirements
- Customer service qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated high-level customer service experience, skills and capabilities.
- Sound working knowledge of local government waste management and cleansing services or a proven ability to rapidly acquire.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence capabilities, and proven problem solving, negotiation and conflict management experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver required outcomes and to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer-based applications including Microsoft Office, Pathway, Technology One, Livepro (knowledge management system), Premier Contact Point and other business systems and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake general administrative support duties.
- Sound working knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
About you
To be successful, you will require well developed verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, the ability to provide customer focused solutions and the ability to understand Council's waste services.
