Help Shape the Future of Defence Aviation Support
Toll Helicopters is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations and Contract Manager to support our growing portfolio of mission-critical Defence aviation contracts. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly skilled team delivering aeromedical evacuation, crash response, utility support and strategic deployment capability to the Australian Defence Force.
The location for this role is flexile and could be based in Brisbane or Sydney.
About the Role
This is a multi-disciplinary leadership role responsible for end-to-end contract management, client liaison, operational support, and business development across key Defence contracts at:
- the Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) / Crash Response (CRH) / Utility support contract with Defence supporting the Army Aviation Training Centre from Toll’s operating base at Swartz Barracks, Oakey;
- the AME / CRH / Utility support contract with Defence supporting the 1st Aviation Regiment and Defence exercises from Toll’s base at Robertson Barracks and also deployed, Darwin
You will also play a central role in supporting and coordinating aircraft and personnel deployments across Australia and the broader Pacific region (PNG, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, etc.).
Working to and alongside the Head of Defence Programs, this position is responsible for development and sustainment of business relationships between Toll and the Australian Defence Force, both for sustainment of current Defence Business, and generation of new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Defence aviation contract performance, reporting, and compliance
- Lead day-to-day operational coordination and logistic support for deployments and exercises
- Provide strategic and tactical support for new business capture and contract mobilisation
- Maintain high-level client relationships across Defence and foreign military stakeholders
- Liaise with government and Defence entities to support regional contingency and humanitarian response missions
- Support base operations, facilities management, and Defence personnel admin needs
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across operations, safety, engineering, and finance
About You
We are seeking an agile, detail-oriented professional with a strong Defence and aviation background, and a passion for high-quality service delivery.
You will bring:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Defence-related role, preferably with exposure to rotary wing operations
- A B. Aviation degree would be looked upon favorably
- Strong project and contract management skills with a focus on compliance and reporting
- Commercial awareness of tendering processes with a sound understanding of business development
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and client relationship skills, particularly with Defence and government agencies
- Experience with operational logistics support, deployment coordination, and aircraft readiness
- Ability to hold or obtain a Defence Security Clearance and Aviation Security ID
