We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The role
CBCity is seeking a committed and experienced Team Leader Waste Operations to help drive the effective and safe delivery of our waste services. In this hands-on leadership role, you will guide a team responsible for the day-to-day operations of domestic, commercial and recycling waste, ensuring compliance, safety and service excellence across the city. You will foster a safety-first culture, mentor staff, and support the Coordinator Waste in the delivery of efficient, community-focused waste services.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Supervise and coordinate daily operations across waste services.
• Foster a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical and operational advice to team members.
• Monitor driver schedules and compliance with HVNL and CoR regulations.
• Ensure all incidents, near misses and training are documented and actioned.
• Conduct toolbox talks and support staff development.
• Maintain accurate reports, records and performance data.
• Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Assist in planning and budgeting for Waste Services.

You will have
• HR Class Driver’s Licence.
• Proven experience leading operational teams, preferably in waste management.
• Excellent understanding of safety procedures and legal compliance (HVNL & CoR).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in training, supervising, and mentoring staff.
• Ability to analyse service issues and implement practical solutions.
• Confident working with records, reports and performance data.
Desirable: Relevant qualifications in operations, safety or waste management.
The salary range for this opportunity is $93,583.74 - $100,886.44 (Grade G, Step 1-3) plus 12% super.
