About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to lead and motivate our Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) and Ranger teams at Bathurst Regional Council. The Coordinator Ranger and Animal Services will be an experienced people leader with tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 7 year’s experience relevant to the role.
The Coordinator Ranger and Animal Services will have business acumen to manage staff, resources and a state of the art facility efficiently and effectively. They will drive best practice in animal welfare and regulatory enforcement, and foster a positive and productive workplace culture. Demonstrated skills in statutory interpretation, policy development and implementation and risk assessments are essential requirements of the position.
It is required the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator as they will provide technical and policy advice to persons of all levels and be confident in negotiating conflict to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and a minimum of seven years experience suitable to the role
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff in a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering strategic plans to meet organisational objectives
- High level of customer service skills, including an ability to deal with difficult customers
- Demonstrated negotiation/conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-making skills relating to sensitive and complex matters in a political environment
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to assist with adoption and rehoming of animals
- Intermediate to advanced user of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and web-based systems.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, including ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated skills in statutory interpretation and the preparation of policies and procedures
- Class C NSW Drivers Licence
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in the preparation of briefs of evidence and attending Court as a witness
- Previous experience in a Local Government role

This position requires a criminal history check and a pre-employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.
Salary: $1880.90 to $1976.12 gross per week (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) plus superannuation. The position is eligible for a rostered day off once every three weeks and a leaseback vehicle with full private use.
Position Status: Permanent full time
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday - RDO every third week
