About the Opportunity

Library Services Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing a dynamic library service that includes three branches and a mobile library van. This position requires a strategic mindset, overseeing day-to-day operations while also planning for the future. With a focus on innovation, the Library Manager role will be to continue to introduce and enhance services like the highly successful "Imaginarium" – a space for creativity and learning, and the "Portal" – a gateway to digital resources and advanced technologies.
By supporting a diverse community, this manager ensures that the libraries are welcoming hubs for learning, collaboration, and growth. Their leadership will foster engagement across staff and all ages groups within our communities, ensuring that the library evolves with community needs, whether it's through new digital services, educational programs, or partnerships with local businesses and organisations.
In this role, the manager will blend traditional library values with modern advancements, always seeking ways to offer new opportunities to enrich lives, support lifelong learning, and make the library a key part of Port Macquarie’s vision for the future.
To succeed in this role you will have:
- Leadership and management - Managing staff across multiple locations to inspire, coordinate, and support a diverse team.
- Advocacy and Promotion skill to enhance services and increase membership.
- Understanding of Libraries and Library policies and systems.
- Community Engagement and Customer Service Skills.
- Strategic Planning - to develop future library needs including new facilities.
- Innovation and Adaptability - open to new ideas, technological advancements, and innovative ways to serve the public. Experience with digital resources and emerging technology would be a plus.
On a typical day this role will:
- People manager - Staff check in and supporting staff requirements each day, including rostering support.
- Participate in the broader Liveable Communities Team business approach.
- Community Engagement, supporting library service delivery including Story time, Author Talks and exhibitions.
- Oversee special projects and prepare grant applications to support them.
- Support and attend community events in the Library.
- Consider long term needs of Library and the changing community.
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week
Salary (exclusive of super): In the range of $118,824 to $133,001 depending on skills and experience
Opportunity for performance-based increase available after meeting goals over a 12 month period.
This role also qualifies for a Leaseback or Vehicle allowance

The Liveable Communities Team is about connecting with the community including all residents and visitors to ensure that the Port Macquarie Hastings region is an inclusive and vibrant place for everyone. This group is comprised of our LGA community engagement, library services, education, recreation planning and delivery, community building/facilities, culture and community inclusion.
