The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a diligent individual who supports Council in meeting its Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations across both field and corporate environments. The position provides on-the-job training, mentoring, and support to employees, contractors, and volunteers to ensure effective implementation of Council’s WHS management system, including its safety policies, procedures, and practices.
As a Work Health and Safety Advisor, you will implement and maintain Council’s health and safety management system, including identifying and assessing risks, applying appropriate controls to prevent incidents, and consulting with management on WHS requirements. You will also support the education of employees, volunteers and contractors on WHS policies, systems and legislative obligations, while collecting, analysing and reporting on WHS performance data to inform continuous improvement.

About You
We are seeking an individual who holds a Certificate IV level qualification in WHS or related discipline and demonstrated practical experience in WHS or similar profession.
You will have the following skills and experience;
- Ability to interpret and apply WHS Legislation and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Demonstration of the application of analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise and influence internal and external stakeholders, especially with regards WHS.
- High level of competence in the use of computer applications including (but not limited to) Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, desktop publishing, database applications and Internet browsers.
Benefits
This is a permanent full time position working 35 hours per week.
The total remuneration package for this position commences at $99,776.77 gross per annum, comprising of:
- $1713.20 per week base salary
- $205.58 per week superannuation (calculated at 12%)
