JOB DESCRIPTION:
The city is undergoing rapid change and development over the next decade, including transformation of the Liverpool City Centre into Sydney’s third CBD as an innovative health, education, and lifestyle precinct, construction of the Western Sydney International Airport, development of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, and the delivery of significant infrastructure projects. It is an exciting time to work with Council, as it guides this rapid transformation, and continues to provide outstanding levels of service to the community.
Liverpool City Council (Council) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, and skilled Architect, Landscape Architect or Planner to the position of Coordinator Community Planning for a 12-month contract, with possibility of extension / permanency. The purpose of the position is to lead and supervise a team of specialist buildings and open space planners, to forward plan and design a pipeline of social infrastructure projects, across the Liverpool LGA.
Key Responsibilities Include of the position include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Leading and supervising staff members within the team and overseeing their day-to-day work.
- Liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders and the community, as required.
- Undertaking comprehensive and detailed demographic analysis across the Liverpool LGA, to understand changes to local population and respective user needs.
- Developing and maintaining; policies, strategies, master plans, concept designs, plans of management, and other documentation relating to buildings and open space planning.
- Providing technical advice and input into projects being delivered by other teams within Council, the NSW Government, private developers and/or other organisations.
- Providing technical assistance to teams managing the execution of projects that have been planned / designed by the Community Planning team.
- Preparing grant applications, to seek funding for social infrastructure projects.
- Representing the team, including through attending and presenting at inter-departmental meetings, governance / community committee meetings, workshops and as part of community consultation activities
ABOUT YOU:
- University Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- Experience in leading and supervising staff (preferably Architects and/or Landscape Architects).
- Experience in leading buildings and/or open space infrastructure planning projects, including master plans for complex and significant sites.
- Attention to detail and a desire to deliver work to a high standard.
- Understanding of legislation and industry standards relevant to the team’s function and remit of work.
- Skills in project management, with the ability to successfully manage a complex and dynamic workload.
- Emotional intelligence, and exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in presenting work, and liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Adaptability, resilience, decisiveness, with the ability to motivate staff and efficiently and effectively problem solve, to achieve results

Salary (within the above-mentioned range) will be dependent upon the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
