Your New Role:
Are you passionate about preserving the health, safety, and beauty of trees for future generations? Join Kempsey Shire Council as an Arborist and play a vital role in maintaining and managing our Shire’s tree assets.
As Council’s Arborist, you will be responsible for trees on all council managed land including parks, gardens, urban and rural areas. The position works within the Civic Services team and reports to the Coordinator Civic Services.
You will provide written reports and work with contractors, internal staff and residents to ensure appropriate responses to trees across the region.
Key Accountabilities:
- Inspection of trees on council land from both internal and external customers. This will include all public land including road reserves, gravel roads, parks and urban spaces.
- Induction of staff and contractors for all tree jobs. This may involve staying on site for the duration of the works on some of the more complex tree removals.
- Undertaking annual inspections on some of the high value trees located in our high profile areas.
- Responsibility and maintenance of tree database.
- Assisting the administration team with response letters to customers following the customer’s requests.

About You:
As the successful candidate you will possess:
- Minimum Diploma in Arboriculture, Horticulture or a related discipline
- Level 5 AQF in Horticulture
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- General Construction Induction Card
- Extensive experience in completing tree reports
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience working with staff and contractors
