Learning and Development Officer
About the Role
The Learning and Development Officer is a newly created role within Maitland City Council, playing a key part in the Learning and Development team. This role will provide high‑level administrative and stakeholder support to ensure the effective delivery of training programs and services across the organisation.
Working closely with the Learning and Development Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for training enquiries across the organisation. You will coordinate and manage the end-to-end administration of training activities - including scheduling sessions and venues, managing enrolments, liaising with trainers and participants, and ensuring smooth delivery on the day.
You will maintain our Learning Management System, keeping records accurate and up to date, meeting compliance requirements, monitoring and reporting training data, and optimising system functionality. You will respond to staff and supervisor queries, anticipate training needs across the organisation, manage the HR Training inbox, and drive continuous improvements to our learning systems and processes.
You will also develop productive and professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and on occasion, provide support and administrative assistance to the broader Human Resources directorate.
About You
You will have experience working within either the Human Resources or Learning and Development space, with relevant Human Resources or Business Administration qualifications, coupled with contemporary experience.
You will have significant demonstrated experience working within an administrative support role with a high level of attention to detail. You will be skilled and confident in using a Learning Management System or other relevant system, with experience in identifying and implementing business improvements.
You will work closely with other members of the Learning and Development and wider Human Resources teams and have strong and adaptable interpersonal communication skills.
This role is perfect for someone who is highly organised, proactive, and enjoys working with people whilst striving for continuous improvement. You will play a vital role in shaping our learning culture.
