What we are looking for
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering, traffic, and transport. The ideal candidate will have expertise in road, drainage, and structural design, as well as development assessments within the NSW local government context. They should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, including EnergyCo, developers, and neighboring councils, ensuring infrastructure projects align with community needs and comply with legislation.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ever-changing dynamic team within the Mid-Western Regional Council. This role is a 2-year fixed term contract, based on site in Mudgee.
We offer a competitive Total Remuneration Package, negotiable between $120,000 - $145,000 per annum (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) and up to 35 hours per week over a 19-day month.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the review of civil infrastructure designs across the REZ, including roads, drainage,
intersections, and related structures.
- Assess pre-approval documents (e.g. SEARs, EIS, and related submissions) for State Significant
Developments within the MWRC area, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (EP&A Act,
Local Government Act, Roads Act, et.).
- Review post-approval documents such as Transport Management Plans and Road Maintenance
Plans to ensure adherence to approval conditions.
- Ensure development proposals and approvals comply with legislation and Council standards.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders—including EnergyCo, ACEREZ, developers, and
neighbouring councils to align project objectives and community expectations.
- Conduct site inspections to verify infrastructure upgrades required under infrastructure agreements.
- Provide expert technical advice to guide planning and infrastructure agreements.
- Monitor and track documentation to ensure Council meets all legal and statutory requirements under
formal agreements.
- To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the
Workplace Environment Statement.
