About the role
The Community Engagement Officer will support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Council’s community and business engagement activities, working closely with the Community and Business Engagement Coordinator to ensure that community voices are heard and that projects reflect the diverse needs of Ku-ring-gai residents and businesses.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development and implementation of Council’s Community and Business Engagement Program
- Maintaining Council’s Community Engagement Matrix and Register to ensure compliance with policy requirements
- Coordinating and tailoring consultation approaches for diverse community groups and demographics
- Assist in managing Council’s online engagement portal, including project setup, content management, reporting, and subscriber engagement
- Supporting business engagement through events, placemaking initiatives, and strategic projects
- Assisting in the delivery of Council-wide collaborative engagement initiatives, including the Community Engagement Champions Group
- Developing communications materials, managing feedback systems, and preparing reports on engagement outcomes
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications or equivalent professional experience
- Experience planning, delivering, and reporting on community engagement projects (online and in-person)
- Proven ability to create and deliver stakeholder communications
- Experience using social media and online tools for consultation and communication
- Strong skills in conflict resolution and stakeholder management
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing consultation initiatives
- Experience engaging with and understanding small to medium businesses, including event delivery
- Understanding of contemporary engagement methods and digital tools
