The Opportunity
Are you ready to engineer your future? Wollongong City Council is offering a unique opportunity for a motivated and passionate Graduate Civil Engineers to gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects, and grow into a confident professional.
As a Graduate Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to deliver a wide range of civil engineering projects across the Wollongong LGA. You'll gain hands-on experience in design, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement-all while contributing to an extraordinary Wollongong.
This is a 3-year Term Contract position. Salary from : $87,142.96 up to $100,466.86 per annum plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)
What you will be doing
As a Graduate Engineer, you'll work across a broad range of civil engineering operations within our Project Delivery Branch, contributing to the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. You'll:
- Assist with the design and scoping of stormwater, transport, and development-related infrastructure.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams and support project documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Coordinate subcontractors and fieldwork with a focus on quality, safety, and outcomes.
- Apply engineering standards, Council policies, and WHS principles in all aspects of your work.
- Develop your skills under the guidance of experienced engineers while contributing to an extraordinary Wollongong.
About you
You're a motivated and adaptable individual who is either:
- Recently completed (within the last 2 years) or currently studying to complete a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, with eligibility to graduate prior to commencement
- Eligibility for professional membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
You also bring:
- A strong sense of ownership over your learning and development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
- Solid computer and analytical skills, with a basic understanding of project management.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to accept feedback and grow from it.
