About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join Council’s Building Approval and Certification Team as a Senior Building Surveyor. In this role, you will work closely with a dedicated and skilled team to provide expert guidance and uphold Council’s policies and legislative requirements. You will play a key role in engaging with clients, staff, and external agencies on matters related to Building Surveying, Building Certification, Planning, and Fire Safety, ensuring consistent and high quality outcomes across all areas of responsibility.
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will also contribute to the ongoing development and mentoring of junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment that promotes continuous learning and professional growth.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate their competency for the position by meeting the following essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health and Building, Building Surveying or a related field and a minimum of four (4) years’ relevant work experience.
- Accreditation with NSW Fair Trading at a registration level of Building Surveyor – restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings).
- A sound working knowledge of NSW Planning Legislation as it relates to the position.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in assessment and inspection of Class 1 and 10 Buildings under the National Construction Code as well as assessment of Section 68 matters including sanitary drainage.
- Demonstrated provision of consistent high level customer service.
- Demonstrated time management, priority setting skills and experience mentoring.
- Class C Drivers Licence.
