Your position:
Burwood Council is proud to offer a Traineeship within our
Civil Construction and Maintenance team, supporting the next generation of
skilled professionals who help keep our city moving.
As a Civil Construction Trainee, you’ll be part of a
dedicated team responsible for maintaining and enhancing Burwood’s civil
infrastructure — including footpaths, driveways, kerbs, gutters, and roads.
You’ll gain hands-on experience working outdoors, learning to use plant and
equipment safely, and developing practical trade skills while completing a
Certificate III in Civil Construction.
As a Civil Construction Trainee, you will:
- Work
alongside experienced team members to maintain and improve Burwood’s civil
assets.
- Learn
practical skills such as excavation,
base preparation, forming, and finishing of concrete, asphalt, and
drainage works.
- Gain
experience in the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment used in civil
works.
- Participate
in on-the-job training while completing your Certificate III in Civil
Construction qualification.
- Contribute
to creating safe and high-quality public spaces for the Burwood community.
Key requirements:
- A
willingness to enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Civil
Construction
- A
passion for working outdoors and an interest in learning civil
construction
- A
positive attitude, enthusiasm to learn, and a commitment to teamwork
- A
NSW White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Be
fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum two doses)
- Be
willing to undertake pre-employment screening, which may include a
pre-employment medical and/or police check
