ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are currently seeking a passionate and suitably qualified individual to join Council's Strategic Planning section.
Council’s Environmental Scientists form part of a motivated, professional team committed to delivering high-quality strategic and environmental planning outcomes for both Council and the community.
Reporting to the Coordinator Strategic Planning, the role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and excellent communication skills to effectively support, advance and promote biodiversity outcomes across the Shire. A key focus is to assess development applications and provide expert advice in relation to development proposals.
Council will consider both part time and full time working arrangements. Preferred working arrangements will be discussed with shortlisted candidates at interview stage.

To be successful you will bring
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council’s values of: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, biodiversity management, ecology or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of the Biodiversity Conservation Act and local planning instruments in relation to biodiversity.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to prepare and present reports and submissions.
- Proven ability to work independently and with a high level of collaboration across teams and with key stakeholders.
- Proven experience and competence in the use of the Microsoft 365 and with other corporate software.
The rewards
- An annual salary of up to $107,300. The remuneration package will be negotiated with the preferred candidate taking into consideration their skills, qualifications and experience
