About the role:
Woollahra Preschool provides a strong bridge between home and school. We create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where childhood is celebrated, and children are facilitated to reach their maximum potential.
Our Preschool is a 4-unit community-based cost recovery service provided by Woollahra Municipal Council. We cater for 80 children per day, offering early childhood education for 160 children in the 3-6 year old age group over a week.
We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Full-time Preschool Director to lead a team that delivers high quality inclusive programs which support the safety, health, wellbeing, education and development of children aligning with the National Quality Framework.
Starting in January 2026 this position will actively develop a cooperative staff team, striving for excellence in early childhood education, with commitment to the rights of children and the principles of social justice. Oversight, coordination and delivery of staff training.
About you
Along with 3 - 4 year degree qualifiication in Teaching Early Childhood, the successful applicant will have extensive experience in planning and implementing programs for under school age children incorporating the EYLF. You will have a commitment to reflective strengths based practices with a natural abiity to communicate and relate to a wide range of socio economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
This position is subject to child protection screening, criminal history check and a pre-employment medical check.
Essential Criteria
- 3 - 4 year Degree qualification in Teaching/Education (Early Childhood).
- Extensive experience in planning and implementing programs for under school age children in a centre-based setting incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Experience as a Nominated Supervisor, Education Leader and Director of a centre based early childhood service.
- Committed approach to reflective, strength-based and inclusive practices.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate to people from a wide range of socio-economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated supervisory and team development skills.
- Demonstrated ability to actively lead a team in striving for excellence in early childhood education with a commitment to the rights of children and the principles of social justice.
- Child Protection qualification and knowledge of NSW Child Protection Legislation and clearance to work with children as required under the Working with Children Check and Police check.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma training.
- Demonstrated understanding of Work, Health and Safety and its implementation in an early childhood setting.
- Proven administrative/ technology skills.
