About the Role
Based at Council’s Administration Centre, the Trainee Environmental Health Officer will provide support to Council’s Manager Environmental Health and gain hands-on experience across public and environmental health functions. Ongoing employment is subject to satisfactory performance and steady progress in your degree.

Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- NSW Higher School Certificate or equivalent
- Class C Driver Licence
- Partial or full completion, or capacity to enrol in a Bachelor of Environmental Health (or equivalent)
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience using standard computer software (Word, Excel, databases)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including managing difficult situations and negotiating outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to deliver good customer service
- Understanding of workplace health and safety issues relevant to the role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Commitment to the local community
- Basic knowledge of relevant environmental, public health or local government legislation
Salary and Conditions
Employment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
The role is classified at Operational Band 1, Trainee Grade 4 to Grade 10 depending on qualifications and progress.
Salary range: $827.40 – $1,230.40 gross per week, subject to skills, experience and academic progression.
