The role & you
Step into a dynamic role where community safety, environmental protection, and leadership intersect! As a Senior Ranger - General Duties within our Environmental Health and Regulatory Services team, you’ll be at the forefront of regulatory enforcement while championing community education. This is more than a compliance role, you’ll mentor, guide, and inspire your colleagues, helping them navigate complex issues and ensuring consistent, fair decision-making across the team.
We’re looking for someone who thrives on challenge and impact: someone with strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of relevant laws, and the ability to provide practical guidance on intricate matters. You’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding the community and environment, all while shaping a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
What you bring:
Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) and/or Rangers 1 & 2, (or willingness to obtain qualifications)
Expert knowledge and practical application of legislation including the Local Government Act, Companion Animals Act, Roads Act, Impounding Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, and the Australian Road Rules
Proven ability to work independently while thriving as part of a team
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine focus on delivering exceptional customer service

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment medical check (this will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)
Salary:Commencing salary package range circa $85,900 to $93,400 p.a. plus superannuation. (Dependent on skills and experience.)
A "to and from" use vehicle is available and will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Location:Upon commencement your normal place of work will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure:Permanent, Full Time. 38 hours per week on a 7-day rotating roster.
