Role Overview
The Transport Planner is responsible for the efficient and effective planning, coordination, and execution of transport logistics using SAP Transport Management (SAP TM) on behalf of our key customer, to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and governance compliance of transport planning related business process execution to support efficient and effective logistics transportation operations and service delivery.
The Transport Planner will operate SAP TM business processes to create freight orders (including stage and packing unit planning) and assign freight order subcontracting to carriers. Completion of these processes will then allow the Transport Dispatcher to execute the planned freight orders.
Responsibilities
Plan and schedule transport operations using SAP TM to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods and services.
Develop, monitor, and adjust transport schedules based on operational priorities and emerging needs.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to confirm and communicate transport arrangements.
Manage the process and workflow for entry and planning of transport order requests
Analyse transport data to optimise routes, reduce costs, and improve service delivery
Generate regular and ad hoc reports using SAP TM to track performance against KPIs and inform decision-making.
Maintain accurate transport data records in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.
Utilise SAP TM for transport planning, execution, and monitoring.
Identify and resolve system-related issues in collaboration with IT and SAP specialists.
Provide recommendations for SAP TM enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
Engage with stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and internal teams, to ensure alignment on transport requirements and constraints.
About you:
Demonstrate an understanding of organisational objectives and applies strategic thinking to transport planning decisions.
Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement in transport operations.
Deliver high-quality transport plans within tight deadlines and resource constraints.
Effectively manage competing priorities and adjusts plans to meet organisational needs.
Ability to builds and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation and external providers
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
To be successful, candidates must have:
Familiarity with transport execution within large logistics network structure and operations (Highly Desirable).
Demonstrated experience in transport planning and logistics, with a strong proficiency in SAP Transport Management (SAP TM), or equivalent systems (Highly Desirable).
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights (Highly Desirable).
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment (Highly Desirable).
