Maintenance Mechanical Fitter

Rostered day off every fortnight
Salary: $72,898.54 - $84,719.70 + 12% Superannuation per annum + Additional allowance as per Local Government Award
We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to apply your trade expertise in the maintenance, repair, and renewal of Council’s water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant services for the Wingecarribee Shire community.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Team Leader Maintenance Mechanical Fitter you'll be an integral part of a skilled team responsible for the operation, maintenance, and renewal of Council’s water and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring Council meets its statutory obligations and delivers reliable, high-quality services to the community as a trusted utility service provider.
You’ll undertake mechanical maintenance and renewal activities across water and wastewater treatment plants, contributing to asset reliability and operational efficiency. You'll be involved in technical investigation and assessment of water services treatment plant assets, diagnosing faults, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting preventative and corrective maintenance programs to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable operations.

What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria)
- Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter (Machinist) with a minimum of four years post trade experience within the Water industry. Knowledge of WHS and relevant legislations and practice guidelines associated to the role of mechanical fitter.
- Comprehensive mechanical knowledge and demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, rehabilitation programs and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, and activities such as general lathe, machining skills, oxy cutting, pneumatic and welding.
- Well-developed analytical skills and demonstrated innovative and flexible approach to fault finding and problem solving operational and maintenance requirements
- Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications, and operating devices effectively, embracing digital solutions for works activities to enable field productivity and scheduling based systems to facilitate day- to-day operations.
- Ability to network effectively with key stakeholders in offering advice and support to delivering operational and maintenance services.
- Hold and maintain LR drivers' licence, WHS Induction card, Confided Space Entry Certificate, Working from Heights ticket and Dogman ticket.
Other Requirements
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Complete immunisation record of Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus or willingness to obtain
- Participate in on-call roster and overtime (where applicable)
