Financial Planning Coordinator - Temporary Full time (Up to 12-month duration)

As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a
steady rate, Council now employs over 550 staff members and has an exciting
opportunity for a temporary full-time Financial Planning Coordinator to coordinate Council's management accounting team in the delivery of high-quality professional accounting services to Council in an accurate and timely manner. Key financial planning tasks including long term financial planning, formulation of financial strategy, and other management accounting processes are to be achieved in an efficient manner with a strong emphasis on customer service. While this is a temporary role, there may be an opportunity for part-time employment once the substantive position holder returns to work.
Key Accountabilities
- To
ensure all management accounting functions, including compilation of the Operational
Plan, Long-Term Financial Plan, water, sewer and waste financial plans, monthly
budget reporting and quarterly budget reviews are completed to a high standard
in accordance with established deadlines.
- Coordinate
the accounting for Councils grants and contributions received in accordance
with legislation and Council Policy
- Coordinate
the Councils solar array to ensure that it is managed within performance
targets, legislation and policy.
- Develop
and monitor Councils Sustainability Strategy
- To
formulate business unit strategy and provide advice on benchmarking and process
improvement.
- To
identify any potential budget issues and recommend appropriate courses of
action to the Chief Financial Officer.
- To assist
in preparation of Councils financial statements within the management
accounting function
- To
ensure Council’s Investments & Loans portfolios are managed in an efficient
and effective manner, in accordance with legislation and Council Policy.
- To
adequately maintain Council’s Financial Information System, ensuring
appropriate security of data and access to relevant financial information via
reporting and enquiries.
- To
ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place to enable a proper understanding
across all departments of financial matters such as budget formulation and
budget management; use of financial systems; and application of financial
policies and practices.
- To
provide specialist accounting advice and direction to Council.
- To
actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements
of the Workplace Environment Statement.
To be successful in this role you will have
- Relevant
tertiary qualifications in an accounting or commerce field
- Professional
membership of CPA or CAANZ
- Extensive
experience in senior accounting roles in mid to large organisations
- Extensive
experience in the use of computerised Financial Information Systems
- Current
class C drivers' licence
- Highly
developed written and oral communication skills.
- Highly
developed computing skills, with particular emphasis on Excel
- Understanding
of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation legislation; and ability to
interpret and apply legislative requirements to workplace processes
- Ability
to work effectively in a team environment and lead small teams
- Highly
developed organisational and time management skills
- Knowledge
of workplace health and safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to
attending relevant WHS training.
This role requires a satisfactory Police History Criminal Check prior to commencing.
The salary range being offered for the position of Financial Planning Coordinator is $4,047.70 - $4,555.40 per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $105,240.20 - $118,440.40 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
