About the role
As Waste Projects Officer at Ku-ring-gai Council, you will play a hands-on role in shaping how waste and resources are managed across one of Sydney’s most environmentally engaged communities. You will lead the delivery of meaningful, real-world projects that reduce waste, improve recovery and support smarter, more sustainable services and contribute towards a circular economy —seeing your work translate directly into on-the-ground outcomes.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver major waste and resource recovery projects, including grant-funded initiatives from planning through to reporting
- Prepare and manage project budgets, grants, RFQs and tenders in line with Council policies
- Coordinate and manage external contractors and consultants to ensure quality outcomes
- Deliver waste and recycling audits and analyse data to inform service improvements
- Collaborate with internal teams and represent Council in regional and State waste initiatives
- Ensure accurate financial, performance and corporate reporting in line with Council systems and standards
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and a current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated experience delivering waste projects that achieve recovery and reduction outcomes
- Experience in waste education, contractor coordination and procurement processes
- Proven success in securing and managing grant funding
- Strong organisational, financial and project management capabilities
- High-level communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with a sound understanding of the waste industry
