About the Role
Join our team as a Structures Supervisor and play a key role in delivering high‑quality building construction and maintenance services for our community. In this role, you'll lead a multi‑disciplinary team to manage and supervise works across Council's public buildings, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. You'll oversee day‑to‑day operations, support and guide staff, and maintain strong compliance by ensuring all processes, protocols, and legislative requirements are met. The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Supervise and support a Team within Council to enable Council to function at an optimal level.
- Exhibit leadership behaviours by showing initiative, taking responsibility for self and group actions and referring issues of ethics and probity.
- To supervise tradesmen, contractors and cleaners on various building construction and maintenance projects in the Shoalhaven.
- Coordinate plant and materials for projects.
- The ability to develop, and coordinate programmed works as per Delivery program and operation plan.
- To carry out building condition assessment inspections and record information in data bases.
- To carry out maintenance and construction work as required.
- Ability to prepare accurate estimates and quotations utilising computer software, for building works.
- To use Council's computer applications for ordering and general ledger enquiries.
- Monitor expenditure of maintenance and construction budgets.
- To analyse options of building construction and decide on the most cost effective and efficient option to meet set maintenance objectives.
- Construct buildings to design drawings.
- Coordinate the emergency call outs after hours
- Maintain tools and equipment in workshop.
- The establishment of programmed maintenance strategies.

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Trade Certificate in Carpentry and/or Joinery
- Class C Driver's Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
- Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
- Demonstrated trade experience
