We are seeking a talented and motivated Procurement Systems Specialist to contribute to the implementation of our procurement systems roadmap. In this critical enablement role within the Procurement Effectiveness team, you will ensure that internal users and suppliers can confidently and effectively use Sydney Water’s procurement systems to perform their roles.
You will be instrumental in delivering scalable, technology‑driven solutions that optimise and simplify procurement processes, while overseeing system support, delivering training across diverse stakeholder groups and ensuring compliance to governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support stakeholders, end users, and suppliers throughout the procurement lifecycle by providing expert guidance on procurement systems and processes.
- Promote and enhance the adoption of procurement systems across the organisation, ensuring users can confidently and effectively perform their roles.
- Ensure system design, configuration, and usage align with procurement policies, governance requirements, and probity standards.
- Leverage system functionality to implement best‑practice procurement processes and maintain procurement systems as a reliable source of truth for data and information.
- Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and optimising procurement systems and associated processes, with a focus on operational efficiency, user experience, and compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop business requirements and identify solutions that meet organisational needs and objectives.
- Develop training materials and deliver targeted training, communications, and capability‑uplift initiatives for procurement systems users.
- Ensure smooth implementation of new systems or enhancements through effective transition planning and benefit realisation activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues promptly to minimise business disruption while adopting a solutions‑focused, collaborative approach.
- Contribute constructively to shared team outcomes by engaging with diverse stakeholders with empathy, clarity, and a partnership mindset.
This role acts as the bridge between business users, suppliers, and technology, ensuring procurement systems evolve in line with business needs, policy requirements, and system capabilities.
About you
- Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Procurement, Information Technology, Finance, Business) or experience deemed equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of Procurement systems such as Ariba, SAP S/4 Hana.
- Sound understanding of Procurement processes including category management, supplier lifecycle management, source-to-contract (S2C), procure-to-pay (P2P), and contract management.
- Demonstrates strong interest in emerging procurement technologies and system capabilities, translating curiosity into practical improvements across the procurement lifecycle.
- Leverages knowledge and experience of Procurement systems, process, and data to drive continuous improvement, meet SWC future needs and requirements and enhanced business outcomes.
- Sound knowledge of reporting, data, and analytics.
