We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Arborist with a passion for safe, professional arboricultural practices and leading high-performing crews to deliver quality outcomes across our urban and rural landscapes.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Manage the day-to-day scheduling and workflow of arboriculture operations across the Shire (approximately 40% office-based coordination and 60% on-ground support).
- Assess tree condition and undertake or oversee pruning, removals, planting and treatment works.
- Prioritise and allocate reactive tree CRMs, planned maintenance and risk-based works to internal crews and contractors.
- Undertake tree risk assessments and provide detailed recommendations to reduce organisational risk.
- Collect, analyse and manage tree asset data including inspections, pruning and removals.
- Assist in contractor management including tender preparation, monitoring performance, budgets and compliance.
- Provide technical arboricultural advice to staff, contractors and community stakeholders, including pest and disease identification and treatment recommendations.
- Ensure all works are undertaken safely and in accordance with WHS legislation, codes of practice and Shire procedures.
- Support and mentor team members through on-the-job training and guidance.
Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experience and skillset:
- Tertiary qualification in Arboriculture or trade qualification with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in urban forest management.
- Qualification in Tree Risk Assessment.
- Certificate II in ESI - Powerline Vegetation Control.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience coordinating, scheduling and leading field-based crews.
- Relevant arboricultural competencies including chainsaw, woodchipper and EWP operation.
- Demonstrated experience in project and contractor management.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
- HR Licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical capacity to meet the operational requirements of the role.
Desirable:
- Experience using Technology One.
- Experience using GIS or spatial data management systems.

We offer a competitive salary package of $81,877.20 - $87,726.09 per annum (dependent on experience), plus 12% superannuation and commuter use of a Shire vehicle-bringing the total remuneration up to $105,000 per annum.
