Tamworth Regional Council is currently seeking the services of an experienced individual to join our Biosecurity Team. You will bring demonstrated experience in noxious weed control or a similar horticultural/agricultural area, the capacity to solve problems effectively as well as apply industry legislation, codes and standards. Your ability to apply professional interpersonal skills in a wide range of customer interactions to achieve positive outcomes for the community is essential.
This role is primarily responsible for:
- Providing an effective Biosecurity Weed Control service that ensures compliance with relevant acts, regulations and industry standards and provides a customer focussed extension service.
- Supporting the Specialist, Biosecurity Weeds Officer through provision of a high level of Biosecurity weed control service to customers both internal and external,
- Liaising with landowners and key stakeholders in the delivery of Biosecurity Weeds Officer functions with a strong focus on preventing, eliminating or mitigating weed biosecurity risk
- Conducting inspections in support of biosecurity weeds identification providing advice and assisting landowners in the identification, control and elimination of weeds
- Assisting Council in meeting its responsibilities relating to Weed Biosecurity in accordance with legislation and agreed levels of services, including carrying out inspections, control works and enforcement action, in an operationally efficient manner.
- Carrying out the functions of a Biosecurity Authorised Officer under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management (specialising in weeds) or similar OR significant relevant experience.
- AQF3 ChemCert Certificate
- Drivers Licence

Salary range: Grade 10 - $1,296.40 - $1,402.80 per week plus 12% superannuation for a 38 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
