Camden Council is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts and Procurement Officer to play a key role in strengthening contract management practices across the organisation.
This position works collaboratively within the Purchasing and Procurement team to implement and manage Council's contract management system, provide expert advice to internal stakeholders and ensure contracts are effectively monitored, reported and managed in line with legislative and policy requirements.
In this role you will support the continuous improvement of Council's contract management governance framework and provide expert advice to contract managers on the administration of operational and capital contracts. Additionally, you will oversee and administer Council's Contract Management System (Contracts Monitor) and ensure contracts are captured accurately in Council's Contract Register. Develop and deliver training, guidance and reporting to support best practice contract management. Active involvement in day-to-day procurement processes. To be successful in this role you are a confident and organised professional with strong communication and analytical skills. You bring a collaborative approach and are comfortable working across a complex organisation to deliver quality outcomes.
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive job-related experience in contract administration and/or purchasing and procurement.
- Previous experience with contract management systems and other purchasing / financial systems.
- Demonstrated organisation skills and the ability to work collectively with different teams in a complex organisation.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively negotiate
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- Proven commitment to quality customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principals and to act with probity at all times
Desirable:
- Demonstrated understanding of the procurement processes within Local Government
- Experience in the application of the relevant legislation applicable to contract management.
- Experience with Authority Software and/or Vendor Panel
