Our Risk & Safety team are looking for an experienced and highly motivated professional with a passion to achieve and drive a strong safety culture, focused on protecting the physical and psychosocial health of all workers across Council. You'll have the ability to develop and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships, have excellent organisational skills and lead a small team.
The role will require you to have demonstratable Work Health and Safety knowledge and strong people and relationship management skills.
Council’s Risk and Safety division is dedicated to promoting a culture where risk management is a key consideration in all business practices and decision making processes; and providing healthy and safe work conditions for all people involved in our business and operations. The division is responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to embed a compliance focused, yet functional, safety management system and provide WHS guidance and support across the organisation as an internal service provider.
The “Team Leader WHS” is responsible for:
- Embedding and maintaining a compliant Safety Management system within the Integrated Management System across Council
- Coordinating and supervising the daily operations and service delivery of the WHS functional team;
- Providing operational WHS advice to workers (including managers and employees);
- Ensuring the WHS elements of the Integrated Management System are being complied with;
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders where appropriate (such as SafeWork, auditors etc); and
- Assisting with reporting requirements.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Degree qualification in Work Health & Safety or similar
- Drivers License
- WHS Construction Induction Card.
- ICAM Lead Investigator (or willingness to obtain)
- CAM Lead Auditor (or willingness to obtain)
- Immunisations for Hepataitis, Tetanus & QFever or willingness to undergo

Salary range: Grade 18 - $105,077.21 - $113,702.33 per annum plus 12% superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
