About the Opportunity
At Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC), every employee plays a role in helping our community thrive. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our People, Safety and Performance team.
A large part of this hands-on role will be spent in the field, partnering with key stakeholders across Council worksites. You will provide practical health, safety and wellbeing support, advice and guidance across a diverse range of Council operations. Working closely with all stakeholders. If you’re a safety professional who’d rather be solving problems on the ground, then this role is for you.
What you’ll be doing
No two days look the same, but on a typical day you might be:
- Out in the field partnering with supervisors and crews across your designated portfolio of Council operations
- Running an incident investigation or reviewing corrective actions.
- Facilitating a training session, or coaching a team leader through a complex risk issue
- Conducting site audits, inspections or assurance activities — and giving people practical, actionable feedback
- Supporting an injured worker through their recovery and return-to-work journey
- Contributing to policy, reporting and strategic safety initiatives that lift the whole organisation
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Diploma in WHS (or ability to attain in a specified period) combined with extensive experience working in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, principles and best practice.
- C class driver’s license and Construction Industry (White) card.
- Audit and investigation qualifications (or the ability to obtain in a specified timeframe).
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work experience and ability to gain qualifications where necessary.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, investigations, audits and reporting.
- High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office (experience with safety systems such as DoneSafe is desirable).
- Ability to influence and build capability across a diverse workforce
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week
Salary (exclusive of super): In the range of $87,269.51 to $97,681.56 depending on skills and experience
