Infrastructure General Hand (Ref: 1292)
About the position:
The Infrastructure General Hand role is a great entry point into local government and infrastructure work. You’ll be part of a hands‑on, supportive team delivering essential footpath maintenance services across the City of Greater Geraldton.
In this role, you’ll carry out day‑to‑day maintenance activities safely and efficiently, develop practical construction and maintenance skills, and contribute to projects that improve how people move around the City every day. All work is completed in line with agreed programs, relevant legislation, City policies and procedures, and Australian Standards—providing exposure to a professional, well‑structured work environment and future career pathways.
This role is offered on a 9‑day fortnight, giving you every second Friday off to recharge, plan adventures, or enjoy more time doing what matters to you.
Key Accountabilities
- Repair and maintain the City’s network of footpaths using techniques including concrete formwork, Kerb repairs, finishing and brick paving.
- General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as required.
- Operate plant and specialised concreting equipment in a competent and safe manner including skid steer, loader and other machinery as required.

Position requirements:
We are looking for a motivated, safety-focused person who enjoys hands-on, outdoor work and is keen to build practical skills.
Ideally, you’ll hold a MR license and have experience in safely operating plant and equipment used in concrete maintenance. Experience in the maintenance and repair of concrete pathways, kerbing and other structures is highly regarded.
Applicants with limited experience are encouraged to apply, training and support will be provided for the right candidate with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
The Infrastructure General Hand position has a salary starting from $76,072 per annum or $38.4981 per hour, offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
