An exciting opportunity has become available in our organisation for an Assistant Accountant reporting to the Financial Operations Accountant, this position supports the Financial Operations Accountant in delivering Council’s financial reporting, budgeting, asset accounting, and financial operations functions.
The role assists with the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and financial analysis to support compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and local government regulatory requirements.
You’ll play a key role in supporting the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee by coordinating meetings and preparing high-quality agendas, reports and minutes, while ensuring all governance requirements are met. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, as well as senior management, you’ll support effective oversight of risk and compliance, and help foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation
The position can be based in either our office in Coleambally, Darlington Point or Jerilderie.

You will be a high achiever with:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline, or demonstrated experience working in a finance or accounting environment.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) – can be obtained upon appointment
- Manual Handling Training – can be obtained upon appointment
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills, including experience using Microsoft Excel for financial reporting or analysis
- Strong attention to detail
- Advanced communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
