Introduction:
We are seeking an experienced Relief Municipal Services Supervisor to support the delivery of essential municipal services across various remote communities. This casual relief role provides operational continuity, leadership and hands-on support where it is needed most. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable and compliant services that directly support community wellbeing.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and supervise municipal services teams to ensure safe, compliant and consistent service delivery.
- Deliver hands-on municipal services including waste management, roads maintenance, grounds and public space upkeep.
- Coordinate day-to-day waste management and landfill operations in line with environmental and safety requirements.
- Train, support and monitor staff to ensure competency in the safe use of plant, vehicles and equipment.
- Plan and allocate daily work schedules, managing attendance, performance and operational priorities.
- Respond to emergencies and severe weather events, supporting preparedness, response and recovery activities.
What we’re looking for:
- Substantial experience in municipal services, civil works, waste management or similar operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience supervising teams in local government or comparable operational settings.
- Current MR driver licence and relevant plant competencies (including backhoe, skid steer and loader), with the ability to operate manual vehicles.
- Strong ability to plan, prioritise and make practical decisions in remote or resource‑constrained environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining safe systems of work.
- Experience working in remote Australian First Nations communities, with strong cross‑cultural awareness and understanding of issues affecting First Nations peoples.
