ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are currently seeking a skilled trade qualified mechanic to join our workshop team. If you enjoy working in a supportive environment that values teamwork, safety, and work-life balance, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We welcome applicants with any level of mechanical qualification; whether you’re experienced in heavy vehicles or come from a light vehicle background and are ready to expand your skills and upgrade your qualifications. On the job mentoring and support will be provided by our experienced team, and Council will cover compulsory costs associated with upgrading your qualification.
In this hands-on role, you’ll be a key part of keeping Council’s broad range of fleet running smoothly. From servicing and repairs to maintaining heavy vehicles, plant, and machinery, your work will make a real impact on the community. You’ll also have the chance to support the Supervisor in mentoring and developing apprentices.
To be successful you will bring

- Mechanical trade certificate relevant to the position.
- Ability and willingness to upgrade qualification to heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology trade.
- Demonstrated experience working in a mechanical workshop.
- Proven knowledge of plant operation capabilities and associated maintenance and repair requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in the direction and supervision of apprentices and contractors, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
The rewards
- A salary range of $63,300 to $75,500 per annum, dependent on the candidate’s skills, experience and trade qualification..
- 12% superannuation.
- A weekly tool allowance of $39.40.
- A weekly industry allowance of $19.49.
