About the role
The City of Coffs Harbour is seeking an experienced and motivated
Coordinator Water & Wastewater Treatment to join our Water & Wastewater Services team.
This dynamic leadership role is responsible for coordinating the safe, efficient and compliant operation and maintenance of the City’s water treatment and wastewater reclamation facilities. You’ll provide technical guidance, operational leadership and support to Superintendents & Leading Hands, ensuring treatment infrastructure performs to required service standards and regulatory obligations.
The role offers a strong mix of people leadership, technical oversight and operational coordination, supported by data, systems and real-time monitoring.
Key focus areas include:
- Lead operations to ensure safe, reliable and compliant treatment services
- Coordinate maintenance programs, works and contractor activities
- Oversee systems, data and performance monitoring (including SCADA)
- Build a high-performing team through leadership, coaching and development
- Ensure strong compliance, governance and risk management practices

This position will be required to be on call outside of normal working hours with payment as applicable as per the award.

About you
If you’re an experienced water industry professional who leads with confidence and a practical, solutions-focused approach, we want to hear from you!
You will communicate clearly, build strong teams, and balance operational delivery with safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
You’ll bring:
- A strong commitment to WHS, environmental management and risk-based decision making
- Proven experience leading teams, contractors and maintenance programs
- Solid technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment operations
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
- Confidence using SCADA, asset/maintenance systems and Microsoft tools

- Competitive salary from around $98K - $107.5K, depending on your capabilities and experience + 12% superannuation
- Additionally, Live Sewer Allowance and on-call allowances when applicable.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Water Operations (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Demonstrated significant experience in water and wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervision and coordination of staff and contractors (or a relevant tertiary qualification in leadership/management).
- General Construction Induction (White Card).
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
