About the role
The Property Business Unit is responsible for fostering community, economic and environmental opportunities for Bayside Council via its assets.
This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, customer centric and outcomes focused individual to be part of a modern, dynamic organisation that serves the Bayside community well through shaping the Councils Property Portfolio. This role will focus on major property development and acquisition opportunities and provide expertise into the appropriate management structure to support Council’s social and economic property goals.
You can also expect to:
- Provide strategic oversight of complex leasing transactions and strategic property
- Oversee the preparation of property business cases and feasibility investigations beyond development-led projects.
- Provide high-level advice on property retention, rationalization, acquisition and
- Lead and mentor Property Project Officers in delivery of portfolio-wide property
- Identify and advise on opportunities to add value to and transform existing property assets via redevelopment;
- Exercising sound business judgement, identify, investigate and analyse development opportunities, including innovative solutions
- Prepare property development business cases and funding proposals, including all aspects of feasibility investigations (including acquisitions, constructions & consultancies)
- Coordinate the preparation, implementation and management of tasks associated with redeveloping Council’s property assets;
- Identify and secure relationships to support the redevelopment of Council’s assets including joint venture partners;
- Contribute to strategy, management, decision making and capacity building
- Sustain project tracking, budgets and evaluation practices; and
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations
- Provision of quality and timely advice, information and actions delivered between key stakeholders and Council.
- Promote a positive and collaborative culture and values within the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
- Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the following:
- Degree qualifications in a relevant field
- Strong commercial acumen with private sector experience in the development
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Experience through identifying and resolving service delivery issues to maintain a positive customer experience and quality level of service given competing user priorities.
- Ability to mitigate community expectations, staffing and resources and government requirements in a politically sensitive environment.
